New Solar Parabolic Mirror Design

Inventor Roger Angel has designed a lightweight aluminum framed parabolic mirror that may over time reduce the cost of solar power to the point it rivals the cost of coal-burning electrical plants.

The mirror’s 21 sections focus sunlight on single solar cell. A prototype is being shipped next week that could be used to create small portable solar generators for battlefield deployment.

If it’s successful and they can mass produce these mirrors this could bring down the cost of solar to rival coal plants.
